In 2018 Stephenson & Turner Architects were selected by the Ministry of Education to lead the rebuild of Wainuiomata High School. Visit our dedicated rebuild page for more information on progress.

The school has well-developed systems to encourage students to perform at their peak and emphasises traditional values of respect, honesty, courtesy, cooperation and concern for others. Support systems assist students with their problems and concerns. We believe a school must take a holistic view of the individual, and we understand that a student cannot be an effective learner if distracted by personal, family or health problems. Wainuiomata High School is therefore a "full service" school with extensive pastoral support available.

The sense of warmth and caring that we emphasise is also seen in the community which takes pride in being a close knit and progressive town. Wainuiomata is located only 15 minutes from the city centre of Lower Hutt and 30 minutes from central Wellington. It was one of the earliest European settlements in the Wellington region and today is part of Lower Hutt City.

Wainuiomata is the gateway to the Remutaka Forest Park. The area is rich in mountains, rivers and native bush walks. More information about our area can be found on www.wainuiomata.co.nz.
