April 3, 2019
This afternoon we completed our first Lock Down Drill for 2019 at Wainuiomata High School during Period 5. All students knew what to do and followed instruction well.
The current Lock Down procedures, nationwide, are being reviewed by the Ministry of Education.
In the interim, if there is need to go into a Lock Down, we will be advised by the New Zealand Police.
A Lock Down is indicated by a continuous ringing of the school bell for 1-2 minutes.
When the ringing stops all students remain where they are.
Caregivers will be advised by text and email. We will also provide updates via our School App, Facebook and here on our website, where possible.
The Police are be the only agency who can lift a Lock Down and allow us to release our students back to your care.
The end of Lock Down is indicated by the ringing of the bell for a second time.
You will receive another text and email to advise you that the Lock Down has been lifted.
