Welcome to Wainuiomata High School, a state co-educational secondary school. We are committed to providing an environment where students can achieve at both an academic and personal level.   They do this with the support of highly qualified and experienced teachers who all believe that every child can learn, achieve and contribute strongly to their community.

Wainuiomata High School is currently on the journey to become a new school, with our new build being completed in 2025.  The opportunity to construct new buildings and facilities presents our community with a modern and innovative  learning environment which will further enhance the delivery of an already outstanding education.

We have a clear vision of a 21st-century learning environment where learning has a purpose, is planned with students, and is pursued through authentic, engaging and relevant contexts.  We continue to explore ways to offer personalised education which recognises and caters for the unique interests and strengths of each of our students and in doing so opens up a range of pathways beyond school.

The New Zealand Curriculum drives our teaching and learning and results in programmes that provide coverage of all learning areas and allow learners to gain the full range of NCEA qualifications. The result will be our young people graduating as critical thinkers and as empowered, motivated, life-long learners.  We retain our mission to develop well-rounded young adults who hold sound values, including a strong sense of respect for themselves and others.

Powerful partnerships are formed with families and the wider community through our Manaaki structure with every child supported and nurtured by their Manaaki teacher within a caring, small group.

For us, it is about developing an environment where students and whanau have a strong sense of belonging.  And to provide a range of opportunities for all our students to gain experience, learn, develop, have fun and achieve.  We are a multi-cultural and diverse school, and everyone is respected and accepted for who they are.

We look forward to you joining us on this journey as we grow a new school for our community.
